B-Side BOMBS : 1970-1975

Now, in 2025, comes B-SIDE BOMBS: 1970-1975

An intense and combustible yet pleasingly diverse array of the assorted flip sides to the group’s defining early 70s smash hits. You’ll find these recordings are long overdue some love and attention. Some have the demo-ish feel of inspired ideas that would later be revisited and more fully fleshed out, while others seem to have been birthed from flame like perfectly crystallized diamonds.

The Evol problem.

So yes, from mid ’67 through 1972 their lead singer and main songwriter was basically considered dead. But beginning in 1970 the unusual emergence of Evol-penned tracks as B-Sides of the band’s contemporary singles planted a seed in the public’s mind. Not only were “You You You,” “Your Baby Blue,” and “You’re So Blind” written by Evol, but they seemed to feature his voice as well. Was this a portent of his reemergence on the scene?

Indeed it was.

Let us speak plainly: from mid-’67 through early ’72, Erik Evol was presumed gone, vanished, martyred by sodded misadventure and savvy yet sorted marketing. But the voice on these songs—that quavering, ecstatic, half-damned whisper soaked in neon laudanum—is his. Or maybe it’s his echo, crawling through the grooves like a rat in the wall, chewing through the lies. By 1972, he would emerge again, scorched and renamed: Erjk Vanderwolf. And here, throughout these B-sides, we hear the metamorphosis in action. The tremble becomes a growl. The question becomes a command.

The Get Quick, in these five years, were in the process of death and rebirth, of transforming, of becoming—not just a rock band, but a force, a fever dream, a cracked mirror held up to the face of glam, soul, punk, funk, and refracting it all into that pulsing, post-psychedelic apocalyptic ache that no longer needed an era to define it.

Now, again — newly (and some may even say for the first time) — we present these 13 lost tracks, from a lost time, for your pleasure — to lose yourself within.
